Hello Again!
I've received no questions to feature
in this week's update. You
all must be veteran cruisers. That's GREAT.
I'll pass along a few
observations I've made as plans have developed and move
on to
"Day Three on the Enchantment of the Seas".
This week brought aboard our tenth
cabinful of cruising friends!
Next Thursday I'll have to lock in the maximum size of
our group.
If you're considering joining us but can't get a needed
commitment
for another week or two, let me know so I can put a deposit
on a
stateroom for you "just in case". Also, I have
heard from several
of you interested in sharing a cabin. I'll be glad
to put any folks in
that category in touch with each other at your request.
There are now 55 of you receiving these
updates. I hope they
have been a pleasant diversion for all and lead many
more to try a
cruising vacation; if not in 1999, perhaps in 2000!
DAY THREE ON THE ENCHANTMENT OF THE SEAS
Tuesday aboard the Enchantment of the
Seas is a full day at sea.
Everything is unrushed and more elegant than days in
port. The
excitement of getting to know the ship is winding down
now, and I
realize just how relaxing it is to be "out of touch"
aboard the ship.
For seven days I'll be taking no phone calls, answering
no e-mail,
writing no checks, and feeling totally unburdened of
any business
responsibilities.
Our first port will be reached tomorrow.
There are port lectures
in the "Royal Lounge" about tomorrow's ports of call,
St. John and
St. Thomas. The shopping lecture is a must if you've
never been to
the port. The cruise lines guarantee merchandise
purchased at stores
they've found to be reputable. The shopping lecturer
describes the
type of merchandise each port is famous for and provides
maps and
directions for seeing the sites.
Each island has beautiful beaches and
lots of water sports
activities. One of my favorites here is sailing
on a private yacht to
Buck Island off St. Thomas for an afternoon of snorkeling.
St. John
is more pristine than most Caribbean islands and great
for nature
walks and joggers.
This day provides that chance to finally
start that book you brought
along. The night life is always active with music,
dancing and a stage
show. Since I want to be well rested, I'll try
to leave the casino
before midnight tonight. If the wagers are going
my way, I'll have to
try very hard to leave early. If I'm giving money
to the house, that
bed will seem most appealing. I'll be sailing to
Buck island in my
dreams.
